I was going to Belgium for frites, mussels, Tintin and Smurfs...
Too bad Brussels Airlines dosen't come to Montreal...
But Air Canada still provides the only link between Canada and Belgium, these very two nice beautiful countries, by the once-a-day flight everyday from Montreal Pierre-Elliot-Trudeau International Airport to Brussels National Airport.
AC832 is a red-eye flight, just like most... actually ALL the other trans-Atlantic flights departing from Montreal
How to go to the Airport from Montreal Downtown?
Take the 747! bus... (photo found in my archive)
Very busy Montreal Airport during summer travel season
Waited like 30 minutes to do the check-in
People mountain people sea (Chinese proverb)
Air Canada based all its 8 A330-300s out in Montreal. Operating all the trans-Atlantic flights except Paris CDG and London LHR in summer season. It also sometimes operates some domestic flights between Montreal and Vancouver YVR or Toronto YYZ
C-GFAH
Airbus A330-343X
Rolls-Royce Trent 772B (nicknamed: Hair-dryer)
First flight: 15-10-1999 Age: 16 years
The first A330 delivered to Air Canada
Every time I fly trans-Atlantic from Montreal I use gate 59...
Air Canada doesn't have the best seat ever but their seat pitch is actually very good
Not the best IFE ever but they were installed in 2007! In 2007 few airlines had IFE
People mountain people sea...
100% full
Meal prepared by Gate Gourmet: Chicken rice, Salad, Whole grain bread, Choco Cake with Molson Canadian.
Chicken rice tasted better than it looked
Air France has sausage omelet and KLM has pizza for second meal, all of them hot
Air Canada gives you a little cinnamon cake... OK, you still have Second Cup coffee
The galley
Crossing the day and night
Total route. A little bit south then it normally takes
Flight overall very stable, only a few turbulence
Arrived in Brussels
Waited once a again 45 minutes in the immigration line... No exception for little children or elderly
Then we take the Brussels Airport Express to city center. Service is provided by SNCB (Société nationale des chemins de fer belges, similar to SNCF but Belgium)
Train looks very third world country from outside
Inside is very nice and comfortable. Every car is divided in small rooms like this.
Arrive in Brussels South Station (Brussels-Zuid in Dutch or Bruxelles-Midi in French)
Another busy train station in Europe...
And yea of course! Frites and Mussels are good!!!
Extra: Atomium with Bombardier
